Food Service
This is a friendly reminder that per the AISD-Child Nutrition Charge Policy, no child can charge after Monday, May 9th. If there are charges over $5.00 on the account your child will receive a Peanut Butter sandwich or Cheese sandwich and milk for lunch. To avoid this, please make sure there is a positive balance in the account or send money daily. In order to close out the year, all charges need to be paid by May 20st.
Walk for Education
The students at Whittier will be participating in Walk for Education on May 12th during PE. The funds raised by the Walk go for grants within the district and a portion stays at Whittier.
Teacher Appreciation Week
The week of May 2-6 is Teacher Appreciation Week! Whittier is full of outstanding teachers. We would like for students to do the following to show their appreciation to their teacher:
Monday – give a hug
Tuesday – draw a picture
Wednesday – high five
Thursday – Write a note
Friday – Sing a song or cheer
Awards Assembly
The Awards Assembly for grades 1-5 will be Wednesday, May 25th, in the Cafeteria. This is a time to recognize several accomplishments from the whole year. Grades 1 and 2 will be together from 9:45-10:15, grades 3 and 4 will be together from 8:30-9:30and 5th grade from 1:15-2:15.
TAKS Testing
The 5th grade students that did not pass the TAKS Math will have another opportunity on Tuesday, May 17th. The TAKS Reading will be on Wednesday, May 18th. The purpose of the TAKS is to evaluate the academic progress of each student and to help evaluate the instruction at the school. The students and teachers have worked hard and long to prepare for this test. We hope that you will join us in making this experience a successful one for each student by doing the following:
*get good nights sleep
*eat a good breakfast
*arrive on time
*encourage them to do their best
Class Parties/Early Release Day
Class parties will be the last 30 minutes of class on Friday, May 27th. The last day is also an early release day. All students will be dismissed at 12:00.
Report Cards
Report cards will be sent home with the students on the last day of school Thursday, May 26th.
Registration
Registration for the 2011-2012 school year will be from 8:00-4:00 on August 3rd and 4th.You will need to bring proof of address and shot records if you are a returning student. Meet and Greet will be Friday, August 19th, from 3:00-4:00. The first day of school is Monday, August 22nd !

El Servicio del alimento
Esto es un recordatorio amistoso que por la Política de Carga de Nutrición de AISD-NIÑO, ningún niño puede cargar después del lunes, 9 de mayo. Si hay cargas más de $5,00 en la cuenta que su niño recibirá un lonche de Mantequilla de cacahuate o de Queso y leche. Para evitar esto, se asegura de por favor que hay un equilibrio positivo en la cuenta o envía dinero diario. Para liquidar el año, todas las cargas deben ser pagadas para el 20 de mayo.
Caminar para la Educación
Los estudiantes en Whittier tomarán parte en Caminata para la Educación el 12 de mayo durante PE. Los fondos levantados de la Caminata van para becas dentro del distrito y una estancias de porción en Whittier.
¡La Semana de la Apreciación del maestro!
La semana de del 2-6 de mayo es Semana de Apreciación del Maestro! Whittier está lleno de maestros sobresalientes. Querríamos que los estudiantes hagan lo siguiente para mostrar su apreciación a su maestro:
El lunes – da un abrazo
el martes – hacer un dibujo
el miércoles– saludo de mano
el jueves – Escribe una nota
el viernes – Canta una canción
Certificados
Asamblea de certificados para grados 1°-5° grados serán el miércoles, 25 de mayo, en la cafetería. Esto es un tiempo de reconocer varios logros del año escolar. Los grados 1° y 2° serán juntos de 9:45-10:15, 3° y 4° serán juntos de 8:30-9:30 y grado 5° de 1:15-2:15.
Prueba de TAKS
Los estudiantes de 5 grado que no pasón el TAKS de Matemáticas tendrán otra oportunidad el martes, 17 de mayo. Lectura de TAKS será el miércoles, 18 de mayo. El propósito del TAKS es de evaluar el progreso académico de cada estudiante y para ayudar a evaluar la instrucción en la escuela. Los estudiantes y los maestros han trabajado duro y han preparado a los estudiantes para esta prueba. Esperamos que usted nos ayude a hacer esta experiencia un exitoso uno para cada estudiante haciendo lo Siguiente:
*un buen decanso durante la noche
*comer un desayuno bueno
*llegar a tiempo a la escuela
*apoyar que hagan su mejor en el examen
Fiesta/Salida temprano
Fiestas del salon seran los ultimos 30 minutos de clase el viernes, 27 de mayo. El último día las clases terminan temprano. Todos los estudiantes saldran a las 12:00.
Boletas
Boletas seran eviadas con los estudiantes el ultimo de clases el 26 de mayo.
Regristacion
Regristracion para el 2011-2012 año escolar será de 8:00-4:00 el 3 de agosto y deberá traer prueba de registros de domisilio y vacunas si es un estudiante que estuvo en esta escuela. Conosca a la maestro será el viernes, 19 de agosto, de 3:00-4:00. ¡El primer día de la escuela es el lunes, 22 de agosto!
